  • Lt Gen Amit Sharma served in the Indian Army for 40 years. 
  • Held numerous command positions and was awarded the PVSM, AVSM and VSM for distinguished service to the nation. 
  • He retired at the rank of an Army Commander as the Commander in Chief of India’s Nuclear Command.
  • He has served abroad and in all parts of the country including Punjab during militancy, the Line of Control, in Counter Terrorism Ops in J&K, on the Watershed (LAC) with China, in the Deserts and Plains.
  • Lt Gen Amit Sharma holds MSc and MPhil degree in Management & Defence Studies.


Command & Staff Appointments

  • Commander in Chief Strategic Forces Command – India's Nuclear Forces
  • General Officer Commanding Desert Strike Corps - An offensive formation of over 80,000 personnel comprising Armoured, RAPID, Infantry and Artillery Divisions, Air Defence & Engineer Brigades equipped with the latest C4ISR systems.
  • General Officer Commanding Infantry Division – Over 10,000 personnel tasked for Conventional, Amphibious and Out of Country operations.
  • Command of Armoured Brigade and an Armoured Regiment in the deserts.
  • Army, Navy & Defence Attaché in France accredited to France, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg. Responsible for Defence Cooperation, Defence Diplomacy & Interface with Defence Industries.
  • HQ Integrated Defence Staff - Responsible for the first Long Term Integrated Perspective Plan for Force Structuring of the Army, Navy and Air Force.
  • Chief of Staff of South Western Command - Responsible for Operations and Logistics of over two lac personnel.
