The Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood and Scientific Secretary Dr (Mrs.) Parvinder Maini joined Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Electronics and Information Technology Shri Jitin Prasada for a visit to the Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (imec) in Leuven, Belgium on 14 July 2026. IMEC is a leading global research hub, transforming nanoelectronics into forward-looking sustainable solutions, also known as the chip lab of the world. Prof. Sood and Dr. Maini visited their 300mm lab facility that serves as a neutral sandbox for the entire chip ecosystem to test advanced IC nodes beyond 7nm. IMEC also presented their journey in the semiconductor technology and the future roadmap to achieve sub-nanometer chips that represent the next frontier in semiconductor scaling.
