The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (OPSA) to the Government of India launched the TRL Compass Platform on 29 June 2026. The platform aims to standardise Technology Readiness Level (TRL) assessments across sectors, and the launch event was chaired by Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India. The TRL Compass platform adapts the globally accepted nine-level TRL scale to the specific needs of India's research and innovation ecosystem. In his remarks, Prof. Sood highlighted the need for a common framework to assess technology readiness, guide public investment, and support commercialisation. He advised institutions to adopt TRL Compass as a standard framework for funding, reviewing, and developing technology. Dr (Mrs.) Parvinder Maini, Scientific Secretary, OPSA, remarked on the lack of a common way to assess technology maturity and emphasised how TRL Compass provides a shared and objective framework that will bring the stakeholders together, make technology transfer easier, and encourage greater focus on real-world outcomes. Mr Vinayak Godse, Chief Executive Officer and Dr. Preeti Banzal, Adviser/Scientist 'G' signed a MoU was on behalf of Data Security Council of India and OPSA, respectively. The MoU facilitates collaboration on technology readiness assessments, development of a Technology Radar methodology, and driving the adoption of TRL Compass across India's research and innovation ecosystem.
