Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, and Scientific Secretary Dr (Mrs.) Parvinder Maini joined the 25th Foundation Day celebrations of the Society for Electronic Transactions and Security (SETS) on 25 June 2026 in Chennai. They were joined by Dr. Subramanian Neelakantan, Executive Director and Ms. Suganya A, Scientist 'G' of SETS on the dais. Dr. Rakesh Kaur, Adviser/Scientist 'G', and Mr. Vivek Kumar, Scientist 'D', from the Office of PSA also participated in the event. Prof. Sood in his presidential address, highlighted the growth and impact of SETS in the last 25 years as a premier scientific organisation with advancements in cryptography, hardware security, network security, post-quantum cryptography, and quantum security. Prof Sood also expressed his satisfaction on SETS contribution to national missions including the National Supercomputing Mission and National Quantum Mission. He underscored the importance of building quantum resilience in the country and called upon SETS to assume a national leadership role in post-quantum cryptography, testing, evaluation, and standardisation. He emphasized on the need to synergize AI, Quantum and cybersecurity to overcome the growing challenges in the area of digital safety and reiterated the bigger role of SETS in finding solutions in these frontier areas of cybersecurity. Dr Maini, in her address, emphasised the growing importance of cybersecurity as India's digital transformation gathers pace across governance, critical infrastructure and strategic sectors, amid increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. She underscored the need to develop a strong cybersecurity talent pipeline to address the widening skills gap in India and globally. In this context, she highlighted the unique M.Tech. programme in Hardware Security & Cryptology, jointly offered by SETS and the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), DU, DRDO, as a catalytic initiative to nurture highly skilled cybersecurity professionals for the nation.
