The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India has been strengthening sustainable livelihood systems in rural ecosystems through science and technology–based interventions via initiatives such as the Rural Technology Action Group (RuTAG), Science and Advanced Networks for Knowledge-driven Action for Livelihood Promotion (सह Sankalp), and RuTAG Smart Village Centers (RSVCs). RuTAG has connected science and technology institutions with rural communities to address local challenges through practical and innovative solutions. With over 39 technologies commercialized during Phase 1.0, Phase 2.0 has already seen the deployment of 16 technologies, while 25 additional technologies are market-ready. Through initiatives such as सह Sankalp, the Office is disseminating information about the Government of India's efforts in rural technologies and promoting the adoption of 357 ready-to-deploy technological interventions across the country. With over 91 RSVCs being established, the RSVCs are complementing the efforts of RuTAG and सह Sankalp by empowering young rural entrepreneurs through sustainable and grassroots technologies and helping India achieve the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. They also serve as local innovation hubs through hub-and-spaoke model that facilitate technology adoption, skill development, and market linkages, creating long-term opportunities for rural economic growth and self-reliance.
